This is my only complaint about this excellent app. As a more casual user, I don't have a handlebar mount, and so try to navigate by listening to the live ride from a phone in my shirt pocket. This would be much easier to follow if it said things like: 'Continue 50 meters, then turn left on York street.' or 'Get ready to turn left on York Street'. Rather than leaving the street unnamed until I'm on top of it. Then I'd know which of the next two streets I was meant to turn on. (It would also be nice if it told me to turn slightly ahead of the junction instead of slightly after I'd passed it.)
Also, if there is a turn within 20 meters of the next turn, I'd like to know about both of them at once. 'In 100 meters, turn left on York street then turn right on Liverpool Street' - that way I'd know that I'm going to be turning right away or might be going through a junction that looks like a straight on to me.
Finally, if I'm going across a bridge, I probably don't need to know to go straight on after I get on the other side. Many of the 'Go straight on for X meters' announcements could be added together. So instead of announcing I should get ready to go forward every 50 meters, it could just tell me when I'm likely to be confused (ie, crossing a major road or switching from a road to a cycle path). I understand this might be a function of the map data, but either way, I still want to know how long I'm going straight in total, not just until the end of the bridge.

Hi, I would consider this issue mostly closed. Just had a good hour long cycle through London. It got a bit confused on CS5 around Vauxhall, but that's understandable.

We could fairly easily change "Get ready to turn left" into e.g. "Get ready to turn left into ".
I'll look at raising a PR to this effect in the next day or two.
