Agenda

  • 18:30- 19:00 - Gathering & Intro

  • 19:00 - 19:45 - "Workflow automation with GitHub Actions"
    Yuri Trykov (inDrive)
Automation is a crucial aspect of fast code delivery, and GitHub Actions is a simple and convenient tool to automate the development workflow right in your GitHub repository. In this talk, I am going to cover basic scenarios: testing, building and deploying code, and integration with external services. Moreover, I will share some tips for creating effective automation and fixing common problems.

  • 19:45 - 20:00 - Coffee Break & Networking

  • 20:00 - 20:45 - "Boosting your pet-project with ChatGPT"
    Alexey Levanov (Exness)
Very often pet projects are not completed due to lack of time, loss of motivation, or workload. If your pet project is a completed mobile application, in addition to development, you need design and promotion. It is quite difficult to engage in development, UI/UX prototyping, and marketing at the same time. Let's see how currently available neural networks can help you to accelerate the development of your pet project and replace competencies that you don't possess.

Lightning talks by first time speakers - Nicosia

Event Description

Hello everyone! 🙌

We're thrilled to announce our upcoming software development meetup event, specifically tailored for first-time speakers.

Save the date: July 13th is the day!

Join us in showing support for our first-time speaker guests.

Our first speaker is a coding educator for kids, specializing in teaching through platforms like Scratch, Roblox, and more.
In this presentation, the speaker will share their approach to planning coding lessons for kids, with a focus on creating a fun, engaging, and educational experience. The audience will gain insights into the key elements that shape the curriculum, such as hands-on activities, interactive games, and collaborative projects. By incorporating gamification and project-based learning, the speaker aims to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and computational thinking in young learners. The audience will also learn how the lessons are tailored to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, creating an inclusive and supportive environment. Join the speaker on this exciting adventure, exploring the wonders of coding and empowering the next generation of digital creators.

Our second speaker is a biologist and scientist who enjoys keeping an air of mystery. Her presentation will delve into the fascinating world of genome sequencing.

Solving the human genome puzzle In 2003, biologists created the first ever human genome. The 3 billion DNA letter sequence, called the reference genome, was mostly made up of DNA donated from people in the city of Buffalo, New York. It was as close to complete as the technologies for sequencing DNA allowed at the time. Twenty years later, with the advancement of DNA sequencing technologies, scientists release the first draft of the “pangenome” DNA reference. The new pangenome incorporates complete DNA data collected from ethnically diverse individuals which more accurately reflects human diversity.

Our third guest speaker is a talented junior game developer who will be sharing insights on Blender pipelines.

Stay tuned for more exciting topics that will be announced soon!

A practical introduction to Test Driven Development (TDD) by Marios Georgiou

Event Description

GDG is happy to host Marios Georgiou!

In this talk, Marios will walk us through the steps of creating automated unit tests that run every time we build our code, and cover all the basic concepts of unit testing, code coverage and some best practices by showing examples in an interactive, workshop like experience.

This course is targeted to beginners or to more experience developers who want to learn more about TDD.

The examples will use very simple code written in React, however the concepts and practices are similarly applicable on most programming languages, e.g. Java, Python etc.

This is a hybrid event. The physical event will take place at University of Cyprus (Nicosia), in the department of Computer Science building THEE 01, Room B101 (Basement, Walk-in Lab). map: https://goo.gl/maps/BoDyu6fmyNPaYkwC6

The virtual event will be on zoom (see below) and also on CDC discord channel. Visit https://cdc.cy to access the discord channel and view the events channel for details on how to access.

For the participants of the physical event, pizza and refreshments will be offered by our sponsor "TSYS A Global Payments Company".

Entrance: Free

Drinks and Food: Free

Language: English

Registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/engineering-leadership-meetup-2-case-study-tickets-624309746257

Welcome to the Wrike Engineering Leadership Meetup in Cyprus! This event is designed for professionals who lead a team or manage an engineering department. Our goal is to provide a space where you can network and share your experiences with fellow leaders.

During our meetup, we will cover a range of topics that are relevant to your daily challenges. We will explore techniques for motivating and developing your team members, planning and executing projects effectively, working with junior specialists, communicating with stakeholders, and implementing tactical approaches.

Unlike traditional conferences, we will not have any "talking head" presentations. Instead, we will use conversational formats such as case studies and live discussions to help you engage with the content on a deeper level. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, which is why we will not be recording any videos. This will enable you to share your failures, mistakes, and lessons learned without fear of judgment. Our goal is to create a safe space where you can learn from each other, develop your leadership skills, network, and have fun.

Our Experts:
– Vasily Sozykin – Technical Engineering, Wrike

– Askhat Urazbaev – Agile Transformation Lead, Exness

– Kirill Peskov – Head of Development @ World of Tanks, Wargaming

– Viktoria Dubrovskaja - Engineering manager @ UI platform team, inDrive
