This is supported because any object key that doesn't have a subscriber will be turned into the HTML element attribute:

{
    "type" : "checkbox",
    "name" : "my-checkbox",
    "checked" : "checked"
}

Generates:

<input type="checkbox" name="my-checkbox" checked="checked" />

I would of course accept a subscriber that converts boolean values so that you could pass checked : true.
