I believe the Nano should work with the Arduino as ISP sketch in the same way as the Duemilanove or Uno.
from attiny.
There is still a error :
avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.
does your board decleration also work with the attiny44a (PU) or is something with my wiring not right
from attiny.
I had that error message when I tried to program an ATmega8. The problem was the chip was configured to use an external clock, so I added it and it worked. Maybe that is your problem too.
from attiny.
what time of clock (MHz?) do you used?
from attiny.
12 MHz but mine was an Atmega8. I think (I'm not so sure) the ATtiny supports up to 20 Mhz clocks.
from attiny.
Can you enable verbose output during upload in the preferences dialog? That should allow us to see the actual device signature that the software is receiving. Some possibilities: the ATtiny44A has a different device signature than the ATtiny44; the software is actually talking to the bootloader on the Arduino Nano (seeing an ATmega328) instead talking through the Nano to the ATtiny because the Nano reset when the upload started; the Nano isn't able to talk properly to the ATtiny (in which case you'll probably get 0's for the device signature).

avrdude done. Thank you.
In this case I choose the blink example and as the board the ATtiny 44 (internal 8Mhz clock)
but I see this: 0x000000
so it is not compatible?
from attiny.
Not sure if this is still useful, but it sounds like the Nano couldn't talk to the ATtiny. Check the wiring, that the ATtiny is getting power, etc.
from attiny.
Closing this because (AFAICT) there's nothing to fix within the ATtiny files. Let me know if you have other questions.
