I think i haven't understood your question.
If you dont' force the crop mode, the camera return the picture you taking. Without the square crop, the image is sized to fit the width. So i can't understand what you mean.
Can you make me a better example?

I'm sorry, let me clarify. With instagram for instance the user is only able to take square images, without any extra crop actions. With DBCamera I get the following:

dbcamera

So you might expect that the picture taken is actually (almost) square. But in the next step the resulting image is outside the box from the left picture. I would like the resulting image to be exactly the one that you see on the left screen.

Ok, i've understood. The problem is on the devices < iPhone 5 with the preview layer frame.
Do you have the same problem with the system camera?
I'll check at home with an old device with iOS 6. Do you have iOS 7 on your device?
Thank you again.

I'm using an old iPhone 4 model that I didn't upgrade to iOS 6.
I solved it by overwriting some classes for my own implementation. I define the previewframe in a separate file and then use those values to calculate the crop-rectangle.

Ok. Anyway i want to check the right dimensions of the preview layer.
Thank you again @JrSchild

Hi

Any news on this?

I'm trying to make an image 320x320 but the metadata that is shown once the picture is taken is very different to what was shown before the screenshot was taken.

Is it possible to add an imageview and assign the camera layer to that view of 320x320?

Any insight would be great.

Thanks
Zee
