If there is eg. a markdown error, maybe change the status to "Sync failed" with some hover-over information about the error and do not sync the page but retain the last working version instead. @olayway not sure if that's the example you need

I think this could be achieved by creating a temporary folder in the site's R2 path with the new/updated site's content and only after the site sync succeeds swap the actual site's content for the content from this temporary file. If it fails, do nothing, leaving the site version from before the sync attempt.
