We started using qrcodejs and it works find most of the time. However when you press the print button in

it fails when passing the string

Using a more drugs e.g pressing print on http://ch.oddb.org/en/gcc/rezept/ean/7680516801112,7680576730063,7680193950301
works fine!

Therefore I think it an error somewhere in the code where it determines the module size and not an issue of the string itself.

I can confirm this issue as well. Using a simple string of numbers ~191 chars long results in no QR code being output (but the dom seems to reflow to make space for it in the page). Shorten the code data and it works. Obviously this falls far short of the spec which should allow ~4000 chars of data, with less when using error correction. Sadly, this makes this library unusable for me.
