In my previous project we stored the reference screenshots (aka: "baseline") in the artifactory and recorded them inside the pipeline. Before recording for comparison we downloaded the baseline images and then started the comparison. There was a manual pipeline step when the comparison failed which allowed us to record and replace the existing baseline images in the artifactory so that a next test-step run lead to a successful test by testing against the updated baseline images.

@d-koppenhagen it definitely does, thank you. @nmerget actually brought up that topic and even also thought about to align the solution throughout the three repositories (replace backstopjs within Base and Core by cypress, db-ui/base#29). He might contact you regarding more details / repositories to adapt from.
