I can confirm this still happens on JRuby 1.6.2.

Same goes for JRuby 1.6.3 running both 1.8 & 1.9

Looks like somebody should replace fork with a multithread strategy for JRuby. Am I correct?

@anildigital you are correct, the JVM doesn't support forking.

I think spoon (which uses posix_spawn) is the way to go instead of fork+exec as @headius stated in a blog post a while back.

Luck with spoon? It's used in other gems like launchy. I'm poking around at a JRuby patch now. We'll see how far I get 😄
