I just ran into this issue, basically the problem is that this plugin does not play nicely with the serverless-plugin-typescript plugin. Currently I'm not able to use this plugin because it doesn't work with the typescript plugin.

Any chance this could fire the build hook first?

Look at serverless-webpack, they PRed the serverless-offline hooks to solve the same issue.

They modified this plugin to serve their intentions. Using the serverless-offline hooks should do the trick.
