You are right!
You can request one for a specific application though.
It was only an example for something to consider in the future ;)
I'm very happy with this program and would like it not to get blocked because of it's popularity.

Anyway, this should be a feature I think. Some providers allow the use of individual API keys if I remember well.

One that wants to change the API can edit the source code. This shouldn't be everyone as subliminal needs to be identified as such by subtitles providers so they can report me abuse etc.
