Currently, the .staffeli.yml you get under the students directory will include a kuid field, synthesized from the login_id field provided by Canvas. So you can now specialize something like this into a command-line script, assuming you are in the students directory:

>>> find_kuids = lambda name: [s['kuid'] for s in data if name.lower() in s['name'].lower()]
