Hi @bassrock,

could you elaborate this issue a bit more?
Let me know which path(s) are different and we can get it addressed ASAP...

Thanks!

So the php5 inis are now symlinked:

Also when enabling mods it is now recommended to use php5enmod as shown here: http://www.lornajane.net/posts/2012/managing-php-5-4-extensions-on-ubuntu

Hi @bassrock,

correct me if I'm wrong, but the newrelic.ini ends up in /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d already, depending on your php_ext_conf_dir... The actual installation and setup of PHP doesn't really matter that much, as long as you guide the newrelic-cookbook to the right location to write newrelic.ini to.

Are you having any particular installation issues?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Kind regards,
David

It does leave a newrelic.ini, but in the latest versions it should leave the .ini in the mods-available folder and then enable it using php5enmod newrelic This will make sure it gets enabled properly in the latest versions of php and apache2

@djoos do you think this got fixed in the 2.0.0 release then ? (wondering as issue is opened but 2.0.0 is tagged already).
This is a (small) issue for us as it creates duplicated newrelic.ini files when the newrelic package is updated.
Thanks

Hi @gleseur,

2.0.0 shipped without addressing this issue. I've been just too busy lately...

It sounds like you'd like an additional notifies on the template node['newrelic']['php_agent']['config_file'](which you can easily point to a newrelic.ini to the mods-available folder already) which will enable the .ini using (the new) php5enmod. It will be key to make sure it will only do this in php -v >= 5.5.0...

@bassrock or @gleseur: do send me a PR and I'll get it merged in ASAP.

Kind regards,
David

I'll close this one for now - see #123 for more information...
