It's probably failing at downloading Xephyr; the version changed today and the old one disappeared on the ARM mirror. I updated the download URL in crouton a couple hours ago; try grabbing the latest crouton and running the same command you did earlier to create the chroot (with -u to update it so you don't have to start from scratch), and it should work.

thanks a lot! trying it now

ipstone avatar ipstone commented on May 18, 2024

no luck, tried this: sudo sh -e ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce -u
restart the process, but give the same message, the time I run: sudo startxfce4 ... A chroot preparation script still exists inside the chroot.

is the link correct: I download it from: http://goo.gl/fd3zc

Yep, that's correct. Can you post the log from after you say "yes" to configuration?

ipstone avatar ipstone commented on May 18, 2024

here is the whole log (sorry for the length), I'll try to remove everything and do a reinstall to see what happens next.

That's super-strange. There should be a bunch of automated steps after the "Base system installed successfully" line...

Can you post the contents of /usr/local/chroots/precise/prepare.sh? Thanks!

ipstone avatar ipstone commented on May 18, 2024

yes, strange, solved now: it's because my previous installation process wasn't completed. after remove the chroot, reinstall, everything works perfectly. I am amazed by the responsiveness of the system, and by your quick replies! Thanks, Sir

i am having the same problem cleared my drive several times, tried different network,, is there any way i can download this UID1000 seperately?

Unixware avatar Unixware commented on May 18, 2024

seems the crouton is a train wreck, same shit with this error on a newly created chroot!

from crouton.

DennisLfromGA avatar DennisLfromGA commented on May 18, 2024

@Unixware, If you need help, this is the place to get it. Usually all that's needed is the full output of croutonversion from within the chroot and the error output.

Unixware avatar Unixware commented on May 18, 2024

after a powerwash, wheezy and trusty are ok, seems the issue is with precise only , so far that I test.

xo what do you suggest we do, do we scram or keep trying until system get burnt,,, lol.....

I've got the same problem. I've tried Trusty and Precise. Powerwash and reinstall didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Unixware avatar Unixware commented on May 18, 2024

@ghosttrax did you try saucy? It works for me.

ghosttrax avatar ghosttrax commented on May 18, 2024

@Unixware
I get the same thing. Installation errors with this:

Pascalsmits avatar Pascalsmits commented on May 18, 2024

tried Trusty but returns an error - reinstalled several times.
Any idea's how to get it up and running?

from crouton.

drinkcat avatar drinkcat commented on May 18, 2024

@ghosttrax / @Pascalsmits : That's a problem with the CRAS/ALSA plugin (not related to this particular issue).

Can either of you open a new issue, and post a bit more output of the installer (at least 20 lines), as well the output cat /etc/lsb-release?

ghosttrax avatar ghosttrax commented on May 18, 2024

@drinkcat Thanks. New issue raised: #947
