It looks like Travis doesn't honor node_js: [4] if your project is not a node_js project.

How about you try this instead?

before_install:
  - nvm use 4

Lemme know if that works... lemme update the document if it does.

okay. the safest fix is to use language: node_js.

but fwiw, i've figured it out, the right command is:

- nvm install 4 && nvm use 4
