Dominic DiCarlo's Projects

coding_algorithms_problems icon coding_algorithms_problems

Here I practice working on classic coding problems and algorithms that I might find in a job interview someday.

dom_website icon dom_website

I am working on creating my own personal website to act as a portfolio, space for my blog, and finally a text based adventure game in the works.

global-development-indicators icon global-development-indicators

A project for my Data Visualization class at University of Chicago. Here, I visualized several different measurements of socioeconomic development for countries, and allowed one to look at a given country's trajectory over time.

gun_deaths_analysis icon gun_deaths_analysis

The .Rmd file in this package performs some analysis on gun death data in America from the years 2012-2014. It plots some graphs and explanations on visible trends. This was originally part of a homework assignment for the Computing for Social Sciences Class at the University of Chicago, a graduate course in the Computational Social Sciences program.

hw01 icon hw01

Repository for homework 01

learning_web_dev icon learning_web_dev

A github repo for my quest to learn how to do full stack web development.

machine_learning_samples icon machine_learning_samples

This contains homework or projects involving machine learning, in the form of python notebooks (.ipynb)

meteor-data-visualization icon meteor-data-visualization

In this repo lies one of my projects for a data visualization class I took in Spring 2018 at the University of Chicago. We used D3 and vanilla javascript to try and visualize all of the asteroids tracked by NASA and their chance of hitting us.

noah-nomad-website icon noah-nomad-website

Included is some code I did for my friend's website. These files weren't hosted directly, but rather showcase the code that I added directly to that website's code. Details where appropriate.

parallel-floyd-warshall icon parallel-floyd-warshall

This code sample was turned in for an assignment in a class I took on Parallel Computing at my university. I implemented a parallel version of the Floyd-Warshall algorithm. The Floyd-Warshall algorithm is a shortest path algorithm for graphs, that specifically computes the shortest distances between every pair of vertices in the input graph.

personal_website2 icon personal_website2

A fresh start on making my own website, this time creating everything from scratch!

power_personality icon power_personality

Power and Personality Pilot Study at UChicago Summer 2019 - Maestripieri Lab

star_wars_script_analysis icon star_wars_script_analysis

In this fun analysis, I take Star Wars movie screenplays and look at word frequencies and sentiment across films in the original and prequel trilogies.

text_game icon text_game

A text adventure game written in python, still in eaarrrly alpha development

visual_prosthesis icon visual_prosthesis

Here I have some code I did for the Visual Prosthesis Project, one program designed to detect changes in EEG signal indicative of a seizure in a research subject undergoing brain monitoring.
