hmm, I actually have a module to do that, but it is not incorporated into JSONStream,

it has several out of the box styles, and you can get it to do others too. it's was one of the earlier js modules I wrote though, it's not perfect. turns out formatting objects for readability is a hard interesting problem (but not ultimately all that important)

I'd accept a patch that allowed you to pass in a preferred stringify function.

By the way, the current implementation (not sure if that was the case back in 2012), allows passing in the indent level as an argument.
