By the way, just to make it clear - adding a new file to monitor (like /tmp/test2.log) does work after reloading log-courier, so that seems to only affect the filter codec (well, maybe other settings to, but some stuff does get updated with reload).

Hello. This is by design. Existing harvesting will continue uninterrupted so the codec change won't impact. It (kind of) mentions it in the configuration doc under reloading, that existing harvesters are left alone, but it's not clear that they don't pick up any configuration. I'll elaborate on it.

I'm working on monitoring at the moment so you can see what files are shipping and current speed/status etc. Once I've done with that I will take a look at the possibility of making harvesters update/restart on configuration reload.
