Thanks for spotting. in fact .html is the default value for magento. the trouble then will be in the UI , to propose ".html" as default & distinguish between "never set" (so i should propose a standard default value like .html) and "explicitely set to nothing" in that case i should leave empty. i suppose it may end in an extra plugin parameter "no extension" in order to separate those cases.

The same goes for the mass category importer btw (I'm currently working on a project that leans heavily on Magmi, so I'm spotting these things now fairly quickly)

Ok, i'll try to provide updates ASAP.if you have any question about magmi , feel free to ask. I don't know your project but you might be interested in exploring Magmi Datapump API which is a very handy way of using magmi capabilities in a custom php script.
