The first request (GET or POST) to the startup HTML page is static (since RAP 3.x). It does not initiate the server UI session. For the regular GET request we extract the startup parameters from the URL and put them into StartupParameters client service (all done on the client with JavaScript on the first UI request).
You are completely right that if the startup request is POST and the parameters are in the request body, they are lost.

The solution is exactly what you suggested:
... if we want to start/initiate the RAP application from a 3rd party link, we need to use separate entry-point(like a servlet) and try to get the POST parameter and then direct it to Entrypoint

from org.eclipse.rap.
