Totally cool idea! Another approach would be a way to copy the command without the prompt ($).

It looks like this is partially implemented. I recently noticed that you can copy the entire block. As you mentioned above, it would be nice if you could copy the command(s), omitting the prompt and any output.

Here's a publicly available example.

When you copy the code block, you get:

$ which agio
/Users/awdeorio/src/mailmerge/.venv/bin/agio

Ideally, you would get

which agio

@awdeorio That’s on GitHub’s website, but I didn’t know they had implemented it!

I’m definitely going to take inspiration from GitHub, but I suspect Primer Spec will soon 1-up them 😉😆
