Terminal opacity configuration not working

Hi there,

Let's do a small test:

• First make sure compton is running:

  pgrep compton && echo 'Running' || echo 'Not running'

• Then run kitty with a semi-transparent background.
  This command should work regardless of your kitty config, since it overrides the background_opacity option.

  kitty -o background_opacity=0.5

Note: I am using picom which is basically a maintained version of compton with a different name.
It could be that the version of compton offered by the Ubuntu repositories is buggy. I highly recommend trying the above test with picom if compton does not succeed.

The test worked for me using picom with no configuration file:

picom --config /dev/null
