what's the output if you run rtabmap from the command line?

from irotate_active_slam.

I get the following log in the terminal

marmot@Cadence:~$ rtabmap

ok, try to look at introlab/rtabmap_ros#28 and apply that to the launch file robotino_simulations/launch/rtabmap.launch. We need to understand where rtabmap fails.

can you uninstall rtabmap and send me the output of cmake .. command? looks like librtabmap_sync library has some problems during initialization.

from irotate_active_slam.

eliabntt avatar eliabntt commented on June 14, 2024

To uninstall just go to the build folder and run [sudo] make uninstall. After that you can use sudo updatedb + sudo ldconfig + locate rtabmap to be sure everything has been cleaned out.

Note that locate will show also folders/files that you actually don't need to delete :)

Following is the output of cmake .. from inside rtabmap/build.

Also, if it matters, I have blacklisted rtabmap from my workspace because we do not want catkin to build it (right?)

marmot@Cadence:~/irotate_ws/src/rtabmap/build$ cmake ..

Also, before running catkin_make or catkin build please run sudo ldconfig

Just tried it. Getting the same the error. I'll post the solution here if I'm successful to solve this issue. Also, please let me know if you have any other inputs.

Thanks a lot for your time! 🙂

I never blacklisted rtabmap btw. So might be that the problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue in my system.
You might try to build rtabmap with -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug. That should help with GDB.

Another option, although it shouldn't be necessary with that version is to run catkin build -DRTABMAP_SYNC_USER_DATA=ON

Happy to help you out with this :)

eliabntt avatar eliabntt commented on June 14, 2024

Hey @adbidwai, any update? did you manage to get it working?

I just tried in a fresh system and it worked directly with the standard instructions. One thing might be that you can launch rtabmap and go to File > save config.. other than that I can only suggest of trying on a clean system again from scratch without any further detail from your side
