I think this guide should recommend:
- Upgrade stretch to buster
- Ensure PHP is 7.3, especially making sure libapache2-mod-php5 (this is from jessie!) and libapache2-mod-php7.0 (buster) are not installed (neither other php5/php7.0 packages)
- Upgrade Elkarbackup from 1.3.x to 2.0.x
PHP version issue is not Elkarbackup specific, we have hit that one in other servers too, you were using jessie version in fact ;)

Then it's important to advise users NOT updating the Elkarbackup repo (sources.list) from stretch to buster until your system is running Buster with PHP 7.3 (once removed old versions)
