Thanks for the comments.

git and python-setuptools (actually python-setuptools-scm) should be in the makedepends section. Why are python-wheel and python-pip needed?

As for the PKGBUILD, I should remove it from the repo as the relevant one is in the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/qtile-extras-git) - but this one should still have the right dependencies added.

I was getting errors stating wheel and pip not found, hence I tried adding them to the depends, array and it worked. That's why I thought, that they needed to be there.

And, I have taken the PKGBUILD from here : https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=qtile-extras-git

I don't have much experience writing PKGBUILDs so, let me know if I am doing anything wrong.

The main PKBGUILD for qtile doesn't have the wheel or pip dependencies and I can't immediately see why it's needed. I can do some more testing on this later.
