Sorry for being late.

I've tested with the latest packages stack and it seems works fine. Thank you for digging into this!

Thanks!

EDIT:

I haven't tested those commands extensively, but they do seem to work correctly on my system, including when I tested just now.

A few questions:

  1. You say "the problem happens when using other actions too". Which ones? All of them? Just the "open" ones?
  2. Doesembark-act behave correctly when trying to run commands other than from this package?
  3. Are you selecting one candidate before running embark-act, or multiple? If the latter, how? (I'm asking this because could be related to an issue between embark and selectrum)

FYI selectrum now has a useful set of minimal test files here:

https://github.com/raxod502/selectrum/tree/master/test

You can just do this, for example, to startup emacs -Q and setup the basic set of packages.

./run.sh selectrum-prescient-orderless.el

I did try to run your code with emacs -Q, but the bibtex-actions commands aren't available to me when I do that. Is there something else I need to do to get that working on my end?

With the possibility this might somehow be related to 3 above, can you try updating selectrum and embark? They both merged changes today that might address this.

I was able to reproduce the behavior.

Try updating embark and selectrum, which both merged updates today that address what I believe to be the issue.

If that fixes the problem, let me know, as it was basically a UI issue with selectrum.

This is related to an issue I have open at selectrum to further improve multi selection for use cases like this. Hopefully there will be a PR soon that we can test.
