Using 24.4.1 on Fedora Rawhide I am not sure I am seeing a problem: enum is in one colour, BasicEmotions and enum in another, fear and anger in a third, and the punctuation symbols in a fourth.

For some reason the flickering occurss only when you have comments after the enumerators.

Which platform? I do not see any flickering on Fedora Rawhide or Debian Sid – both a 24.4.1.

I'm on Ubuntu 14.10. I'm using an own-built version of Emacs 24.4.1. No special configurations though...

Mayhap we need to pin down the actual problem a bit more. WIth your example I am finding that the colouring of the fear and anger change from green to white depending on what I have just done to the code. Is that the problem you mean?

More precisely, any change to the { appears to turn the fear green and then moving the cursor turn it white.
