We do not have the bandwidth even in the case a contributor wants to follow up on this, so I think it's better to close it and whenever we want to pursue it again, we open a new issue with an up-to-date description.
The work is likely not going to be done in this repository as well, but at one of the underlying techs no?

In the initial versions of api docs we did so automatically but it took up lot of bandwidth which could be bad for emerging markets or for users viewing it on a limited data plan on mobile. Which is why its probably better to allow users to opt in to do so.

So I just did a quick (very unscientific) estimate of how big the payload would be if we decided to download the whole content of the latest version on pageload for offline viewing:
177K latest.tar.gz
That's not bad 😎
If you wanted to download all versions it's even not that terrible, but we could make this optional if people really wanted to have older versions available offline:
3.8M content.tar.gz

@locks why was this closed? I think it's something that we still want to pursue at some point in the future 🤔
