I always get the return NoneType.

i.e. importlib.metadata.version always returns None 😛

Transferred the issue to empack as it's very likely that we can fix it here.

@DerThorsten what's your opinion on this? Should we fix it?

I think I'm leaning in favor of fixing this. Including the metadata of all packages will increase the size but I doubt it would be too much?

jeah if its an easy fix (ie just not filtering out some stuff) we should fix it in empack!

Hey, @DerThorsten - we removed the importlib.metadata.version(<package>) from the bw-processing package. Unfortunately, this is currently part of the cookiecutter template we have for Brightway packages. I suspect this will therefore come back to bite us if we import any of our key packages bw2io, bw2data and bw2calc. Is there any chance this could be fixed soon, since
