Seems that "Launcher login expired" message in the Vanilla-client-launcher was related to some other problem/feature.
ie: it has no meaningful relation/part in the above issue/problem.

After some thinking and a bit of work I finally got it working in both client as intended.
In retrospect I feel the separate client "accounts.json" administration of the Ender client has kinda lost its usefulness.
But I probably ain't telling you anything new. ... So closing.
