Current implementation strips backslashes for unknown combinations, i.e. "a\a" becomes "aa". IMO, the correct treatment would be:

case 'v': str += '\x0B'; break;
case '\\': str += '\\'; break;
case quote: str += quote; break;
default : str += '\\'+ch;

It would handle \\ => \ and \' => ' (or double-quote, depending on the opening quote), and unrecognized combinations would be left as-is: a\a => a\a.

Another related issue: the "raw" value should be saved without backslash treatment.
