Oh! I see... My bad I'm sorry.

The examples from the README were badly written. As you point out they lack a ->first() or a ->get() call to actually get a Baum\Node instance.

As you say, the code needs to run 2 queries. One to get the node you want, and then another to get all of its descendants. You could only run it with one query if you previously knew the lft and rgt indices of the node from which you want to extract its descendants.

I've pushed an update to the README. Thanks for spotting this.

Just a comment, actually you can do it with one query by joining the table to itself. I wrote a scoped query that does ancestorsAndSelf() with one query (this is the only case that I need, but you could do this with descendants too)
