Ubuntu 17.10 entire system freezes when JavaScript bundle builds to 100%

This also occurred to me. Building JavaScript bundle and suddenly entire system freezes. Reproducible Demo

Environment:
  OS: Linux 4.13
  Node: 9.9.0
  Yarn: 1.5.1
  npm: 5.6.0
  Watchman: 4.9.0
  Xcode: N/A
  Android Studio: Not Found

Packages: (wanted => installed)
  expo: ^25.0.0 => 25.0.0
  react: 16.2.0 => 16.2.0
  react-native: 0.52.0 => 0.52.0

I've encountered the same issue on Ubuntu 17.10 multiple times over the course of last 5-6 months. Building JavaScript bundle reaches 99% and suddenly the whole system freezes. Couldn't really find any relevant solution, but I've noticed that this only happens when Visual Studio Code and some node processes are running, still, no clue why having code and node processes closed helps the issue. Unfortunately I cannot provide a sample for reproducing the code. Here are my system specs:

OS: Linux 4.13 (x64)
Node: 9.9.0
npm: 5.6.0
yarn: 1.5.1
watchman: Not installed

Just wanted to add that I also have this issue. It seems to only happen when I'm tunnelling over lan, but I can't find any other relevant debugging evidence...

I have been having issues with watchman. It will start to read from the disk and freeze the entire system.
