-1 for including with express cause it adds dependencies that are not needed (at least commander). I think once docs are updated it will be fine and shows people that there is nothing magical about this generator stuff. We need better guides on starting from scratch without silly code generators.

Also means we have to push express changes with generator fixes. And I would like to avoid that.

For express I might be inclined to do that. I thought about getting the version via an API call to npm and putting that in package.json. I just don't want to leave people with package.json files that will burn them after a month or two. So suggestions on that front are welcome.
