Guys, I think in the controller I can simply use the req.files. Do you suppose that object is available once the upload is complete?

Also, any way to not have multer write files to disk? Ie from controller just be able to storage the binary in an S3 bucket?

The multer is a middleware, so you can use it like:

server.post('/users/:id/avatar', multer({ dest: __dirname + '/tmp'}), avatar.post);

when the process finished, the post controller will be called, the req.files include all files information.
another, if any error raised, the post will be not call.

server.post('/users/:id/avatar', multer({ dest: __dirname + '/tmp', onError: function(error, next) {
                logger.error(error);
                next(error);
            }
}), avatar.post);

Yep, multer is middleware, so @baryon comment applies.

Re. S3 support check out @dustin-H's pull request. We're in the process of figuring out a way forward. It may be easiest to use his npm, multer-pkgcloud.
