This has just been added in Docusaurus version 1.0.0-alpha.13. You should be able to specify what port you want your server to run on using a command line argument. e.g. npm start 9000. Omitting the port number will still default to port 3000.

I'm concerned we may need other flags in the future, so it may be nice to label them.

npm start --port 3000 --foo bar

We could use a library like npm "commander" to achieve this

@sdwilsh In the latest version of Docusaurus, port number is specified using a --portflag (will still default to 3000 if no port is specified):

npm start -- --port 8080
