Figured it out. You can pass optional params to any api call method and they will propigate up. This includes appsecret proof.

One way of handling this at init:

appSecretProof = 'xxxxx'
const initSDK = token => {
  const api = adsSdk.FacebookAdsApi.init(token)
  const boundCallCopy = api.call.bind(api)
  api.call = (method, path$$1, params={}, ...rest) => 
    boundCallCopy(method, path$$1, Object.assign(params, {appsecret_proof: appSecretProof}), ...rest)
  return api
}
const api = initSDK(TOKEN)
