setting P4A_DB_PROFILE doesn't do what you need?

Meh. At times, yes.
The P4A_DB_PROFILE approach is not persistent, it pops up and then disappears. I know how to grab the data via cut & paste but it's hassle. There's a lot of extra info too.

My approach can be dumped into a P4A_Box which I use for tracking & debugging during development. It will just show the query I want.

The best bit is that I don't have to actually run the query, just set up the joins, orders, wheres etc. and then call the function to see what (would) happen.

I remember that cakephp show a table in footer with all queries and sql statements, in debug mode, like this image:

Maybe we can do the same for p4a.
