Do you have some examples of known provider that support no threading? Do they support processes or gevent in alternative?

Running a WSGI-based webapp in an environments that provides no parallelism is very limiting.

I am using pythonanywhere https://www.pythonanywhere.com, they are working on adding threads but it is currently a limitation on the free and cheaper plans. I thought that there might be other providers that share this limitation.
There are quite a few modules that they offer by default in their batteries included model (including gevent)https://www.pythonanywhere.com/batteries_included/
I agree that it is very limiting, I was fortunate that the site I wrote is pretty low volume and that the email portion was the only portion that needed the threading module.

WSGI hosting without threading seems like a corner case.
You can redefine send_email at runtime to send emails without spawning threads, but I'm not implementing it globally at this time, sorry about that.
