if you refer to cpuminer, it's been there like forever (hmm if you posted refering to something else, please post on the correct software)

Compilation on linux:
./autogen.sh # only needed if building from git repo
./configure --with-crypto --with-curl

I follow the build instruction with all automake autoconf pkg-config libcurl4-openssl-dev libjansson-dev libssl-dev libgmp-dev make g++ packages installed and make autogen.sh, build.sh and configure file executable 755 mode. But it seems you need to update the offficial documents with installing zlibc zlib1g-dev also.

yes it is possible that some libs are missing

although for compilation, the recommanded one is:

./autogen.sh # only needed if building from git repo
./configure --with-crypto --with-curl
make

I am not sure if build.sh is fully functionnal, in case it is, you should do only:
./build.sh
make

build.sh is working, just to remember to run autogen.sh before running it otherwise make clean will fails
