Seems doable. 👍

Same (non-typical) graph in dataflow vs the-graph.
45 left and right
bezier top/left and right/bottom

full craziness

I think that bezier curves will be better until the 45° algo is a lot smarter about not overlapping.

Of potential interest, we could easily have arrows in the start/middle/end of edges: http://commons.oreilly.com/wiki/index.php/SVG_Essentials/Paths#The_marker_element
(mid doesn't work, because they are placed at nodes, and all of these lines are only one curve)

Now that I can move them around they seem good to me except NE and SW.

@forresto I think those two need an additional bend to clear the originating node

Need to port this to the all-SVG version. Loopback:

Looks better. Much simpler with ports just e -> w

Are you guys working on the 45° algo still? All that rounded stuff might work nice, but I'd like to see piping like in circuit board designs.
Check out the video at about 1:34 min

That looks pretty good.

And the video's here might inspire some new ideas too: http://www.altium.com/altium-designer/features?field_ad_version_tid=All&tid=stress-free
Check the "routing highlights" video

The idea of having multilayers of lines is pretty sweet. Or the ability to switch between corner types. 45°, rounded...whatever you need.
from the-graph.
Circuit board constraints (short circuits) and different than ours (following paths on screen). Both could be improved with smarter routing, but we're sticking with curves as the default for now.
