I do not see how this solves the problem. It's compiled when I type make so it doesn't matter at all if it's your code or just some copy pasted code. The compiler rightfully complains about strdup because you tell it that your code it c99 without acknowledging that you use some non-standard extensions: https://gist.github.com/mahkoh/8218219
