I haven't thought about this in a while, but I'd be down to include your updates. I think the "proper" workflow would be to open a pull request on the original repo when you're ready, and then I'd approve and merge it.

Sounds good to me. I was just trying to decide how much cleanup I wanted to do before opening a PR.
With the expectation that it will be approved it'll spur me on to put in a little bit more effort.
