Handle it yourself through the button property inside the textView:didChange: delegate method:

- (void)textViewDidChange:(UITextView *)textView {
  if ([[textView text] isEqualToString:@""])
    [[composeBarView button] setEnabled:YES];
}

perhaps you make it public. than you could also customize more of its appearance like its font.

Its still a bit hacky though.. I need do these two calls twice:

self.composeBarView.button.enabled = YES;
self.composeBarView.button.titleLabel.alpha = 1.0f;

Once after initializing and once again in textViewDidChange like you posted. A property shouldAutoEnabledButton would be nice.

I don't plan on adding more features. The goal is to mimic the view from Messages.app. If you want custom behavior you're welcome to use the exposed internal properties to achieve that. I think this is a fair compromise. You can always write your own wrapper around the component implementing the additional behavior you need.
