Does it disappear entirely, or does a different cursor appear?

Disappears entirely. The only indication I still have a pointer is things highlight as though the pointer is there.

Mouse pointers are supposed to be hardware-accelerated, so this problem comes from drivers or from Gnome.

The solution may be to use software mouse cursor or Gnome tweaks.

i.e. I don't think this is the issue for FreeCAD or Qt. It looks like no other user experiences this.

Issue is with the OS and not the FreeCAD application.
