Two different scenarios to be assessed; regular playlists (which can be child) and parent/nested playlists in MediaMonkey.
regular playlists
Looked at how Apple iTunes exports an empty playlist:
Example exported by this plugin:
Conclusion: similar structure.
Test with Native Instruments Traktor show that both playlists (orignal iTunes and MediaMonkey) are ignored.
nested playlists
Apple iTunes does not support nested playlists; instead it offers folders, which in the xml contain the contents of all children.
Example exported by this plugin:
Evaluating the structure shows a 'normal' empty playlist as parent; and a 'normal' child playlist that is referencing the parent.
Test with Native Instruments Traktor shows that the parent playlist is ignored (consistent with the regular playlist scenario above), and the child is shown at top level -- which makes sense since the parent does not exist.
confirming the export is working as intended; closing issues
