The Whatsapp-web.js package emits an event when the client has authenticated, if at the time of scanning the QR this event is not emitted then it would give an error when trying to send the message, I will investigate, but you could try to remove and reinstall the plugin in case that there is a problem with the volume.

I did uninstall and install again. Didn't fix it sadly.
Maybe I'll wait longer before I scan the Code, i'll test that

In version 1.22.2-alpha.0 this problem is fixed, right now I'm on vacation and I can't make this change, feel free to send a PR updating the package to the alpha version in this repository: https://github.com/gajosu/ha-whatsapp-web-rest-api

Did change the dependencies inside the package.json and package-lock.json

Updated successfully. But it won't pair now.
Still no "client authentication".
Maybe the error is somewhere else.

in this issue pedroslopez/whatsapp-web.js#2454 they mention this problem and in theory upgrading to alpha fixes it, if you still have the same problem try uninstalling and reinstalling the addon. Maybe it could be a Docker cache problem.

The new version fixed it, so the problem was probably with the events not getting sent.
And for me the first try probably was a cached problem, because it works after reinstall.
For everyone: If you update to 2.3.6 and the problem still persists:
- stop the addon
- uninstall the addon
- fully restart homeassistant (System Restart)
- install the addon
- (hopefully) success
