Found the problem:
- gmond.service.in is missing in gmond/Makefile.am in EXTRA_DIST
- gmetad.service.in is missing in gmetad/Makefile.am in EXTRA_DIST
Fixing this and doing a make dist-gzip fixes the problem.

I don't understand what you meant.
I've added gmond.service.in to EXTRA_DIST = and retried "make". But it fixed nothing. On Fedora 19.
Rule is missing for buiding target « gmond.service.in », required by « gmond.service ». Stop.

Makefile.am has to generate Makefile.in via automake before this would be working for you. I pushed the fix in upstream, if you want to try again.

OK. I've understood how that works and I got by git a version that compiles fine.
