Oh, it's too weird in my opinion. The declaration is not hoisted, otherwise we would have undefined in console.log. It looks like inside the block the original var salary was shadowed by the absence of the new let salary on that line! In a way, let salary disallowed any mentions of the variable salary in the code above, making salary not declared!
