This could be solved via the creation of a proxy store as described Gaffer issue gh-140.

This may seem like a strange thing to do, however by forcing all connections to Gaffer/Accumulo to go via the REST API is a simple way to improve security (but there is a performance trade-off).

If we allow users to open up a gremlin shell that connects directly to the Java api then that user requires direct access to Accumulo and is able to bypass layers of security built into Gaffer. The REST API layer can add additional security, such as requiring user authorisations/roles and logging.

The Gaffer issue gh-140 will create a ProxyStore that simply delegates all operations to a Gaffer REST API. Then this issue will be automatically closed - as users will then be able to setup GafferPop with a ProxyStore (delegating to a Gaffer REST API) or an AccumuloStore.
